When is the Moon Void of Course
and What Does That Mean?

 

When the Moon makes its last major aspect before changing from one sign to the next, it is considered "Void of Course."  The Moon stops being void of course once it enters the next sign. 

 

The Moon changes signs every two or two and a half days, and passes through all 12 signs of the zodiac every 27 and 1/3 days—that's one sidereal month. So, that means every two or three days, the Moon is going to spend some time void of course!

Here is a sample page of the We'Moon planner where I have circled in red the V/C notation. The datebook makes it so easy to keep track of when the Moon is void of course.  
Look for when the moon goes into the next sign. That's when the Void Moon ends. (ex: on the 24th, the Moon goes VoC at 2:58pm, and VoC ends at 11:36pm when the Moon changes into the sign of Leo { ☽ →  ♌︎ } 
What does the Void Moon mean for you?
Many believe that while the moon is void of course, you shouldn't take part in activities that are  "important"—those that would impact your long term future, your finances, health, close relationships, etc—and that these periods of time are best used to meditate or relax. Your experience may be completely different, though.

Note what happens for you during those times. You may find that your experiences differ, depending on what sign the moon is in, while it's void of course, and what sign the moon is headed into. This article explores what to expect when the Moon is in each different sign.
What to avoid while the Moon is Void of Course:
You'll want to plan to avoid signing contracts, job interviews, surgeries, doctor and dentist appointments, etc. This isn't a recommended time to start new projects, or go on a first date, although it may be an extra productive time to strategize next steps in a renovation, or to reminisce with beloveds. Don't schedule important meeting for times that will impact future realities during these periods. And for heaven's sake, don't get married while the moon is void of course!

Think of it as if the Moon is in retrograde:

Avoid doing anything associated with money or investments. It's okay to evaluate money problems, look over your budget, organize your bills and tax records, but it's best to leave the cash where it's at until the Moon settles into her next sign. 

What DO you do in a Void of Course Moon?
These are good times to:
  • Be creative
  • Daydream
  • Play
  • Meditate
  • Listen to music
  • Do some yoga
  • Plan for what's coming up in your life
  • Organize your office files
  • Reduce the clutter in your closet
  • Clean up your photo galleries
  • Use this time to just relax
    Emphasis on "Use this time to relax." Most of us have overly busy lives, so take this time as a perfectly valid excuse to chill out, relax, take a nap.     How long is the Moon Void of Course?
    Sometimes the Moon is v/c for just a few minutes, but on rare occasions, this phase can last for several hours, or, on even rarer occasions, almost an entire day . . . and it happens several times a week! It's handy to be able to see at a glance when the moon is going into a void phase. Many We'Moon users rely on this information in our day planner so they can check for v/c before making appointments and planning big events.
