Expect a stormy weekend and look for fresh opportunities next week. The Sun is now flaring gloriously, inducing aurora here on Earth, energizing all astrological aspects, and adding turbulence to history. A waxing Moon in Scorpio hits full on Monday, all while thoughtful Mercury squares obsessive Pluto, together this can bring moody intensity to the weekend and stir our deeper places. Soon after, a hopeful, opportunity-expanding grand trine in fire signs between the Moon, Venus, and Mars illuminates next week.
Friday unfolds under a sociable Libra Moon but with some underlying tension around unfinished business or conflicting needs, which just needs attention. It will be easier to face and deal with what bothers us than it will be to try and ignore.
In the weeks ahead we could fly off the handle less but dig in our heels more, though Venus in Aries and Mars in Leo do keep the heat turned up. But first, as Mercury enters Taurus it creates a challenging square with intense Pluto, peaking on Monday.
This lineup can play out very differently in the big picture and on the personal level. In global politics, expect some harsh rhetoric and tough revelations, aggressive acts, and the use and misuse of power. On a more personal level, it can be a fruitful time of investigation, going spelunking in our memories.
It can be easy to latch on to our problems and fears, to the outrageous wrongs unfolding around the globe, or our concerns, and get stuck. While maybe we need to spend time with our memories or confront a concern clearly but it’s not time to jump down a rabbit hole or poke a problem just for its emotional charge. Instead, we can choose to latch our minds onto a Koan or contemplate a mystery, focus on a problem to solve, or a delicious memory to savor.

Bring extra kindness to those that were poorly mothered, miss their mother, or who have trauma triggered around Mother's Day. Let's watch our own triggers, if we feel hurt or attacked, we can react with the scorpion sting. If someone lashes out, stand back, don't take it personally, don't enable it, but diffuse rather than escalate. What is said this weekend will probably never be forgotten or forgiven, so let’s be very careful where we take those stories.
Throughout this week, we can feel an urgent demand to speak our minds with Venus in Aries keeping our reactions fast, hot, and direct. But the Sun, Uranus, and soon Mercury in Taurus would like us to be tactful, not start a fight unless we mean it, and put safety and security first. Taurus is Venus-ruled and would rather not argue, would rather the day be full of healthy sprouts and beautiful spring blossoms. But once that Taurus energy digs in its heels- like a root- it will not budge. Let's see if we can speak up clearly, with tact and steadiness.
The full Scorpio Moon can give us penetrating insight or just bring out a mean streak while Mercury squares Pluto and brings our minds to our worst worries. We can uncover hidden secrets.
Next week could bring an action movie as the outspoken Sagittarius Moon forms a motivating grand fire trine with Venus in Aries and Mars in Leo. Momentum builds. This lovely trine can potentially open doors, but we must notice those new possibilities and choose to walk through them.
Day By Day:
Friday, May 9: Notice any underlying tension around unfinished business that runs under an otherwise pleasant day. Look at that business head on; inventory the situation, do what’s possible, and plan for the rest as Mercury semi-square Saturn. The solution will be easier than coping with any draining concern. Then let it go this evening, feed that Venus-ruled Libra Moon energy with conviviality and creativity, feed the senses as that Moon approaches a trine to expansive Jupiter towards midnight.

Saturday, May 10: The mood grows more stubborn and determined but less combustible as thoughtful Mercury leaves feisty Aries, enters earthy Taurus, and approaches a square to Pluto. After a peripatetic and sociable morning, the Moon waxes into broody, focused Scorpio. If life is smooth, this combo will just add extra focus, curiosity, and a slightly snarky edge. Watch for misunderstandings as we process conflicting feelings mid-afternoon while the Moon squares Pluto and opposes Mercury. Watch for sudden strange revelations or mood swings—check facts and don’t go down a rabbit hole. Clarify what to weed and where to set boundaries. Obsess upon something positive, beautiful, and productive.

Sunday, May 11: Don't take any dark clouds personally, but do tend the hearts of those with tough histories or grief around mothers. Manage expectations and watch for miscommunication as Mercury semi-squares Neptune under a waxing Scorpio Moon. A walk in a beautiful garden- or other magical world- furthers, as it brings good memories. Dig deep and remember what matters. Manage expectations and watch for miscommunication as Mercury semi-squares Neptune this morning under a waxing Scorpio Moon. Don't make decisions from a place of resentment. Instead, dig deep and find what matters. A walk in a beautiful garden or another magical world, further, as it brings good memories. Let afternoon be loose, wandering; let the conversation wander, but steer it to beautiful shores.

Monday, May 12: Morning brings endings and beginnings, draw a line in the sand, turn a corner under the full Scorpio Moon right before 11 AM MDT, just as Mercury perfects its square to Pluto. Tough news reverberates in the psyche; we can feel international headlines echo in our own lives; check the headlines before assuming a strange feeling is just personal. What happens this morning will not be easily reversed, so let's be careful what decisions we make and not say anything we do not mean. Changes float in the wind, we could see around a corner tonight.

Tuesday, May 13: Move. Get the body moving and move on to recent ideas or opportunities. Follow a whiff of hope as the Moon enters restless, outspoken Sagittarius and forms a grand fire trine with Venus in Aries and Mars in Leo. Speak a personal truth, just be ready for consequences, and add tact to help it get across. Shine but share the limelight; celebrate one another and break out of an old pattern. Take a healthy risk.

Wednesday, May 14: Feel an impulse to expand our world. Connect with new contacts and old friends, plan a trip, meditate on universal infinity, or run for office as yesterday’s grand fire trine continues to echo while the Sun quincunx expansive Jupiter. Bombastic nonsense could proliferate, but it will be deflated by practicalities and the rule of law. Think big and spontaneous, though it may take time to manifest.

Thursday, May 15: After a positive and outspoken morning, the afternoon grows more serious. While this can help us follow through and manifest, some incident could bring up memories of when we felt less empowered and ask us to claim our space this time, and in a healthy way, as the Sun semi-sextiles Chiron under a competent Capricorn Moon. Let’s control our next step but not try to control others in the process, as that will backfire. Mid-afternoon can bring mixed signals, a confusing moment, or just a need for a nap as the Moon squares Neptune, but it can also help us imagine a solution.
