Thanksgiving epitomizes three things key to Sagittarius: travel, risky honesty, and the search for gratitude. We'll need every bit of our flexibility and centering. Mercury, that arbiter of communications and transportation turns retrograde in outspoken Sagittarius on Monday which can encourage unfiltered conversation in a politically challenging year and add a certain awkward piquancy to travel on this peripatetic holiday.
The Sagittarius Sun brings an inclination, even a compulsion, to travel between November 21st and December 21st this year, whether it be traveling around town to get ingredients, travel to Madagascar to get away from it all, or over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house for Thanksgiving. But that travel can get tricky or need extra time as Mercury stations, so let’s pace ourselves and keep an eye on the weather reports.
Sagittarius inspires an unfiltered mouth and a tendency to say too much, which can be great with our buddies or in public debate, but difficult when we gather with people we don't see very often, and with whom we might profoundly disagree. Those table-top arguments could be exacerbated by both that Mercury retrograde, and by the moody Moon in Scorpio on the feast day. In extreme circumstances, it might further take a year off from family gatherings and try again next year.
But first, over the weekend an industrious Virgo Moon can help us get the house clean, bags packed, work completed, and basic Mercury retrograde skills engaged. Confirm flights and appointments, check the weather, and check the vehicle. Make lists and enjoy checking them off. If tension arises, investigate misunderstandings. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Early in the week, a friendly Moon in Libra invokes a relatively good mood, though that retrograde Mercury can slow everything down and send us on some unexpected side quests.
The Moon heads into moody Scorpio on Wednesday evening which can bring focus and concentration to our preparations. That Moon can leave us feeling alone in the crowd-- or wishing we were alone, but it can also spur deep conversation and real connection if we hang in there with an open heart. Just watch that sharp sting to difficult comments as outspoken Mercury adds tactless fuel to any political differences. If we find ourselves in the crossfire, it may be best to witness our truth simply and then offer to change the subject. Take a walk when needed. Love and honesty are too important this year.
Restlessness and resistance can be divine gifts, but Sagittarius also nudges us to scan our lives for what we do hold in our hearts with gratitude.
Day By Day:
Friday, November 22: A stabilizing sextile between Venus and Saturn helps us enjoy our work and encourages us to reconnect with old recipes and old friends. If we need to negotiate with relatives or let someone gently know we need a year off from family holidays, let’s do so now. The Moon heads into industrious Virgo this afternoon and we switch into preparation mode. Watch for a cranky spell late tonight as the Moon squares Virgo, rest now, and ask the dreamworld to sort out an answer.
Venus sextile Saturn 4:54 AM, Moon squares Uranus 6:14 AM, Moon enters Virgo 401 PM, Moon squares the Sun 6:27 PM.
Saturday, November 23: Stay out of the way of industrious people on this chore-oriented day, make careful shopping lists, and find crowds amusing rather than annoying or avoid them altogether. Celebrate everything checked off the list as the busy Virgo Moon opposes serious Saturn this afternoon. We can slow down, find our situation funnier, create something beautiful, and celebrate one another more after dinner as the Moon trines Venus.
Moon opposes Saturn 5:23 PM, Moon trines Venus 921 PM.
Sunday, November 24: Get organized, multitask, and clear the decks before Mercury retrograde. Pay bills, get organized, and finish a project or two as the Virgo Moon squares Mercury in the afternoon. If we get frantic or anxious, the whole thing gets more complicated. Let me say organized one more time—the more organized we are, the smoother things flow, though do not expect the next week to go as planned. Organized and flexible, we can wing it better if we have lists and a framework to work from. Afternoon can bring a change of plans, but also invoke camaraderie, as the Moon trines Uranus. Know when to stop tonight and rest as the Moon opposes Neptune.
Moon square Jupiter 4:03 AM, Moon square Mercury 1:09 PM, Moon trine Uranus 5:58 PM, Moon opposed Neptune 10:34 PM.
Monday, November 25: Action kicks up as the Sun, Mars, and North Node form a grand trine in fire signs, just as Mercury stations in Sagittarius and spins our wheels. Slow down to move faster; allow extra time for all transportation for the next few days. Make urgent, short-term decisions but avoid long-term decisions- they will just need reassessment later- keep it simple and local. Balance complex needs as the Libra Moon trines Pluto this morning and sextiles Mars this afternoon. Tonight, it furthers to hold still for a minute—take a deep breath and be quiet as Mercury turns retrograde 7:42 PM MST.
Moon enters Libra 4:19 AM MST, Moon trine Pluto 4:32 AM, Moon sextile Sun 12:31 PM, Moon sextiles Mars 3:18 PM, Mercury turns retrograde 7:42 PM.

Tuesday, November 26: Although people want to be in a good mood under this friendly Libra Moon, our feelings can vacillate as Venus semi-squares Jupiter, and we can get discombobulated; minor snafus or stubbed toes wear on our moods. Keep expectations reasonable, avoid blame as stress relief, find the humor where possible, and move slower rather than faster if mishaps accumulate. Evening can be more productive than morning, after a potentially awkward Moon- Venus square late afternoon.
Venus semi-square Jupiter 11:07 AM, Moon trine Jupiter 4:26 PM, Moon square Venus 5:06 PM.
Wednesday, November 27: Move thoughtfully on this biggest traveling day of the year. We can kick into gear early this morning as the Sun trines Mars, but our efforts flow more smoothly if we’re already organized and have alternate plans ready. Last-minute plans or packing need extra vigilance. Prioritize safety and take extra time rather than hurry and take a risk. Dinner time can bring some emotional impact as the Moon enters private Scorpio and squares Pluto. People may need time to unpack, they may need love and adjustment time. Strange habits can be people's way of coping with stress, let them arrive and unwind on their rhythm.
Sun trine Mars 1:06 AM, Moon sextile Mercury 2:14 AM, Moon Enter Scorpio 5:20 PM, Moon square Pluto 5:39 PM, Venus squares Chiron 9:58 PM.
Thursday, November 28: Invoke compassion, depth, thoughtful speech, deep work, and strong boundaries. Let’s ask ourselves if it will further before speaking up. If dealing with relatives with wildly different opinions, let’s witness our truth, let them know where we disagree, and then offer to change the subject. Look for a deeper truth, a more personal exploration. We need connection but some compromises are not easy or worth it as the focused, pointed-mood Scorpio Moon squares feisty Mars under the retrograde Mercury in late afternoon. Engage healthy boundaries and moments of physical activity to work it all out in between.
Moon square Mars 4:48 pm, Moon trine Saturn 7:06 pm
