We have a tricky week coming up. Our spooky season arrives as the Sun joins Venus and Mercury in deep and broody no-nonsense Scorpio. Scorpio’s two symbols are the high-flying, sharp-sighted eagle with great perspective, and the territorial scorpion that stings for fun and protection.
Along with this brooding soup of Scorpio, Venus is retrograde and Mercury turns retrograde on Saturday, which slows us down ang brings up layers of the past. The Moon waxes full in Taurus on Sunday, turning up the volume on our feelings. The Sun squares Pluto on Monday and brings hidden information and feelings to light.
These emotionally churning patterns can push us into unwise decisions unless we corral this energy for good. Let’s keep our empathic hearts engaged and keep a five- second delay on snappy come-backs, take our time, and consider consequences.
With these patterns in play, watch for a miasmic cloud of misinformation, either consciously produces or unconscious bias. Expect arguments over whose land is whose, who's responsible, and who has rights, whether it plays out at home, in that house on the Potomac, or in Iran. Check all facts before jumping to conclusions, particularly if they confirm a personal bias. This Mercury and Venus retrograde can also bring out hidden material and expose power plays. Treasure objectivity in this very subjective time.

The weekend begins the Moon in volatile, impatient Aries pushes us to hurry, rebel, accomplish, just as Mercury in Scorpio appears to hold still, and tells us to hold still, as it retrogrades this Saturday morning through November 13. Venus is already retrograde in Scorpio. Together they bring our hearts to review the past, and we can remember past pain, feel painfully aware of wrongs, and with this activated become suspicious about the present.
The Moon enters grounding Taurus on Sunday and waxes full, the Sun in Scorpio pulls us deeply in; it searches for intensity, for visitations with other realms and missing ancestors, whereas the Taurus Moon craves stability and solidness, bread and comfort. Both can amp up our attachments.
A square between the Sun and Pluto, felt all week but peaking on Monday, brings our attention both to our ability to bond and love one another, but also to weird power dynamics and possessiveness around the world. We notice a fear of loss, echoes of loneliness, and can feel both hollow around trivial problems and obsesses on the true core issues. Our heart’s longing can be turned into a profound spiritual search for the Beloved Spirit.
Mars is now in Leo and approaches a conjunction with enlarging Jupiter- exact mid-November. This conjunction can go either way- it’s our choice, it can either free us (Jupiter) from some Martian anger, free our energy, or ramp up our machismo and encourage us to resist and rebel. It can bring a performative edge to our rage, our military gusto, our competitive sports. Our tempers flare if we feel ignored, unheard. This combo will add flames to rebellions in Paris and wars in the Mideast unless we can give it another way to express.
On a basic personal level, for the next three weeks, it pays to activate Mercury retrograde survival skills. Confirm reservations, allow extra time, and look for the gift in a delay. Make sure we understand what was truly said before spouting off. Make sure the voting machines actually get our vote. Track keys, bills, and other important life threads carefully. When the weather, inside or out, gets stormy, know when to just sit down and wait for it to blow over. Before dredging up memories of the past, ask if it will further, and rather than just re-wound or punish-process, learn, repair, improve, and heal.
Friday, October 23: Caution, combustible materials stir within as the Sun enters cynical, pointed Scorpio and conjuncts deep-feeling Venus retrograde in Scorpio while the Moon enters fiery, rebellious Aries. Mercury appears to slow to a creep as it prepares to retrograde tomorrow morning, our life can slow down or be full of glitches just when our nerves feel stretched thin. We can get irritably edgy just when we need flexibility and a sense of humor. Uprisings will occur. Don’t take others’ anxious impatience personally; instead, stand back and be helpful or be quiet. Look for new clarity on how we honestly feel, what entangles us, and what we need to do to move forward.

Saturday, October 24: A wonderful day to sit still and contemplate the depths of the universe. Too bad we won't feel like that with the Moon in restless Aries. Racing and rushing are counterproductive, feel that sharp scimitar-edge of the Scorpio energy and use it to cut through unnecessary fog, but use it judiciously, because that sword can bounce back and bite us. Meet ghosts, spelunk in the soul, explore caves, look for root causes as Mercury in Scorpio stations retrograde- it furthers to explore the depths, and can redirect a nasty or vengeful vibe. Notice and tension between our freedom-loving and passionate nature and the needs of healthy relationships as Venus squares Juno- and look for a middle way through. Express honestly but express with care.

Sunday, October 25: Venus retrogrades back into friendly Libra and takes some of the heat out of most tense situations and asks us to look back. It furthers to remember good times, fond moments, rays of sunshine. We could still feel passionate and possessive but have easier access to kindness and equity. The Moon enters earthy Taurus this afternoon and waxes full at 10:11 PM MDT. This full Moon is one of bonding, of crimes of passion, passionate arts, a lust for life and a desire to have our own territory respected. Notice arguments over boundaries, and possessions between countries and people. Instead of a contest of wills, build trust and comfort.

Monday, October 26: Check in on the news and with dear people after this morning's Sun-Pluto square can bring sadness or melancholy, and tonight's moon Mars square can bring irritability or discontent. Avoid unnecessary power struggles, but if caught in the crossfire, neither escalate nor give in, take root instead. Have a place to go with strong feelings, let them flow through rather than hold on. It’s a sorting day, a day of reckonings and comeuppances, time to let go of one approach and reach for another. Clear desks, let go of what is ready to be shed. As Mercury and Venus are still both retrograde, rather than make assumptions about the future, make temporary adjustments and reassess again in a few weeks.

Tuesday, October 27: Slow down, catch up, clear closets and finish paperwork; practical earthy accomplishments can become a meditation to help us center and find ourselves. Emotions are still swirling on the etheric, twitchy argumentativeness can hum in the undercurrents, but we can use the steadying Taurus Moon this morning to make progress, and the verbal Gemini Moon this evening to open lines of communication and clear the air. It may not be a day we’ll feel truly understood in our soul, but we can straighten out logistical issues and make room for one another.

Wednesday, October 28: This unsettled day calls for humor and the ability to think fast on our feet while the Gemini Moon conjuncts Uranus. Mercury approaches a square to Mars which can make us a little hot under the collar, heat up on our responses, but we don’t have to pour oil on fires. If we feel a bit frazzled or stretched thin, it furthers to take a few moments alone and bring our psychic antennae back to our self, assess what we need and take care of it—then reengage with a more centered way. Find a compassionate and humorous way around or know when to be quiet.

We get more personal, self-protective and may need to pull back into our shell for safe comfort and nurturance tonight as the Moon enters Cancer.
