This liminal week between great holidays is usually a time to rest, relax, and juggle relatives. Do not skip this step, but this year the stars also call us to re-evaluate our lives and prepare for useful New Year’s resolutions by setting healthy, long-range goals of the soul.
Healthy New Year’s resolutions start with a good introspective reset. This weekend begins with the Sun, Venus, and Mars all together in Capricorn, symbolized by a mountain goat with a mermaid's tail, and this line-up asks us to search for a dream in the ocean of our collective imagination, then climb it gracefully to the top. Mountain goats looked silly on flat terrain.
First, this Friday, drift and dream under a Pisces Moon and take that deep breath between chapters. Over the weekend, an active Aries Moon encourages us to connect with peer groups, action, and ideas. Early next week, the Moon in Taurus brings practical ideas and pragmatic follow-through.
New Year’s Day births a year of enormous astrological change in our world. This spring, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter all change sign from inward-turning yin water and earth signs into yang, action- oriented, fire and air signs, all at those first few degrees of their sign and form aspects with one another and with Pluto, already in early degrees of Aquarius.
Pluto in Aquarius until 2043 can shift the world’s power center, decentralize it to the small countries, shift it to groups, not the specialists, for better or worse; it could bring mob rule, a colluding central committee, or true power to the people, depending on how we work it.
On February 3, change-master Uranus, retrograde in Taurus, turns direct, enters Gemini in May, and trines evolutionary Pluto five times from July 17 through the fall of 2027. What’s been stable could wobble; wobbly things begin to stabilize. They underline the transformation that AI is just beginning to bring, for better and worse. The last time these two danced in trine was the beginning of the jazz age in 1920-21, they instigated an economic boom and inspired the activism that brought women's suffrage to America.

Neptune starts 2026 in Pisces, but on January 26 enters brash, fiery, individualistic Aries until 2038. Last time Neptune entered Aries was 1861, as the American Civil War began, and right before the biggest volcanic explosion in Africa’s history.
Structural Saturn joins Neptune in Mars-ruled Aries on February 13 and conjuncts Neptune on February 20. A conjunction acts like a new Moon to begin a new cycle, and this one potentially idealizes a philosophy of independence, activism, militarism, and rebellion.
Watch for both the healthy machismo of innovative leadership and honest, heroic bravery, positive Aries, and false machismo posturing with a mythology that we’ll be weak if we show compassion or sensitivity.
Saturn, conjunct Neptune once synchronized during the fall of the Berlin wall, can also dissolve boundaries and shift the earth through mudslides, wild weather, and earthquakes. It can bring a crisis of Neptunian faith or a crisis as we wonder what’s real and what is an illusion. It can pare us down to our bedrock philosophy, which stands the test of time. We choose how we respond.
Innovative Uranus enters mercurial Gemini on April 25 for the next eight years and pushes us to evolve communication through Uranian technology, find subversive ways of getting the word out, not filtered through a political lens, but we’ll have to sift through crazy, unvetted theories working the back channels. Check all facts.
Positive aspects like trines and sextiles create possibilities, but we must activate them. Whereas that challenging Jupiter-Pluto opposition can kick us out the door and into the streets. Watch for how power in all its forms, electrical, interpersonal, and political, can be either abused or dynamically utilized.
2026 brings us an amazing line-up of potentially culture-changing, exciting, enlivening, inspiring, but potentially dangerous, aspects. They will test us and ask us to redefine power, to operate from compassion and true connection, to step out of our privilege and work towards stable freedom for all.
Day By Day:
Friday, December 26: We can feel both sensitive and grumpy today as the sentimental Pisces Moon squares Mercury and conjuncts Saturn. Memories drift in, so it's a good time to bring them up clearly, honor the ghosts in the room, but don't get lost in the past. Some low- key creative project can give us time to sit with our feelings but put them into constructive form. If people get controlling under stress, don't take the bait and take it personally; look at the source of stress and see if healing can occur. It can help to find a good movie, book, music, or a moment out of time where we can be intimate with our own soul and not overwhelmed by others.

Saturday, December 27: It’s a busy, pushy day as the Moon enters Aries and squares Venus, the Sun, and Mars. It can be hard to get everyone going in the same direction; lots of great ideas and surprising leadership, but not necessarily much cooperation. It may work better to work independently, or to just enjoy the company, engage in an adventure, laugh, and brainstorm about the future as Mercury quincunx Jupiter and trines Chiron. Work through a potentially cranky moment around dinnertime as the Moon squares Mars, and give people a choice rather than forcing agreement.
Moon conjunct Neptune 12:03 AM, Moon conjunct enters Aries 1:01 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 5:37 AM, Mercury quincunx Jupiter 6 15 AM, Moon square Venus 7:33 AM, Moon square Sun 12:09 PM, Mercury trine Chiron 5:14 PM, Moon square Mars 6:04 PM.
Sunday, December 28: Although the desire to be in control still runs strong, there is more cooperation today, more flow between our emotions and our thinking process as the Moon trines Mercury. Plans begin to coalesce. Just let each person be autonomous, in charge of steering their own boat, in charge of their own life, yet assisting one another in the process. Big hearts and competence can go together.
Moon square Jupiter 2:58 PM, Moon trine Mercury 7:12 PM.
Monday, December 29: After a moody moment this morning when some awareness of the world's woes are personal challenge that weighs on our heart as the Moon opposes Pluto, we can do what needs to get done as the Moon enters pragmatic Taurus and trines Venus, Sun, and Mars in Capricorn. Just know that no one is in a particular hurry; we want to move at our own rate, so have patience. A short-term project furthers, we're not ready until next week to jump into those long- range plans which are cooking on the back burner. Enjoy this week between years. Ask good questions around health, comfort, sensuality, and the right use of stubbornness.

Tuesday, December 30: Be prepared to hammer out some difficulties, find the nuts and bolts necessary to build that bookcase or assemble the toy, or work out the logistics for an idea that sprang up over the last week. Just watch arguments that start up over small points and can devolve into righteousness. We can think rigorously, work problems through, but can get stuck in our opinions as Mercury squares Saturn. A good challenge furthers. In an argument, it can help us define our terms, slow down opinions, and get more concrete information to build upon. Ascertain what we really need to know first.
Mercury square Saturn 12:15 AM, Moon sextile Jupiter 4:27 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 11:57 PM.
Wednesday, December 31: On this last day of 2025, the Moon enters verbal Gemini and Mercury quincunx Uranus, we can talk, think ten ways to Sunday, and imagine the best- and worst-case scenarios of the future. Don't expect consistency, we can feel nervous as we review what a year it's been and ponder our concerns and excitements for next year. Consider all possibilities and honor the fact that we are at a turning of the ages. Under this Gemini Moon, it'll be easy to stay up late. Watch the number of intoxicants as Mercury squares Neptune overnight; all Neptunian things- like bad weather, alcohol, or misperceptions -can cause collisions of ideas, thoughts, or vehicles. Enjoy Neptunian dreaminess instead. Vision the world from comfort and safety.
Moon conjunct Uranus 2:56 AM, Moon sextile Neptune 5:24 AM, Moon sextile Neptune 5:42 AM, Mercury quincunx Uranus 6:07 AM, Moon enters Gemini 6:12 AM, Moon trine Pluto 10:34 AM.
Thursday, January 1: On this first day, Mercury squares Neptune and then enters Capricorn. Expect people to be hungover or floaty first thing this morning. Bring in the best of visions for what could happen again. Make it safe and soft to be sensitive, call in the spirits and memories of the past to support and guide the future, and put that Neptune to good use. What vision of the future do you want to support with your imagination? As Mercury enters Capricorn mid-afternoon, we may start to get ornery, ambitious, and more ready to gear up for the year ahead.
Mercury square Neptune 6:32 AM, Mercury enters Capricorn 2:10 PM.
