It has long been a dream of ours to publish a tarot deck that showcases art that has been published in the pages of We'Moon over the last four decades. It's been no easy task to choose the 78 pieces of art that make up the deck . . . so many wonderful choices!
Sign up for our We'News newsletter, you will receive an announcement as soon as the We'Moon Tarot Deck is ready for you to pick up. You can purchase it here, or find a store near you that is either carrying We'Moon goodies, or who would be willing to order it in for you. You can refer your favorite bookstore to our wholesale page for info about how to stock up on all things We'Moon.
Our hope is that this is the deck you will turn to for both your sacred ceremonies as well as your every-day uses. We've ensured that the card and box construction can stand up to constant use.
In the process of making this deck, we learned a lot about card construction, card stock, box type, the pros and cons of high verses low gloss finishes on cards . . . we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into! So, we carefully chose the options that would suit our own personal needs, and we expect you will approve, heartily, in fact.

Those of you who are familiar with the We'Moon planner and wall calendar will know what we mean when we say it was difficult to choose the art to feature on each card . . . we publish hundreds of images in every edition of We'Moon! Our Anthology In the Spirit of We'Moon is another example of an offering we created that is brimming with gorgeous images that have also been published in We'Moon over the years.
Most of the card sets we find out there feature a single artist, or rarely, a small collection of artists who have collaborated to design and create a special set of cards, be they tarot, goddess, archetype, or another type of deck. This deck features art by 67 different women, which means that every card reveal offers fresh insight and imagery. It’s a refreshing change that speaks to us as devoted We’Moon fans.
The We’Moon founder, Musawa, poured through the thousands of images that we’ve published over the years, and integrated her favorite choices into the complicated matrix of tarot card meanings. Musawa has a long and studied herstory with tarot, and she has been laying the plans for this deck for over a decade.

Beginning with the 2000 edition of the We’Moon datebook, we based the theme of the planner on the corresponding major arcana card. For instance, the 2000 year was based on the Fool card, and we named that edition “Open.” The 2001 year was based on the Magician card and it was “Magic.”
Take a deep-dive into the meaning of a particular major arcana card by looking back at the datebook that corresponds to that card. We designed each of those editions, every moon chapter, and many of the featured articles around the various nuances and meanings of that year's card. Have a look in our archives section to see if we have a copy you're interested in available, still.
Tarot provides a framework for understanding the larger picture of human consciousness—as a creative resource for guidance on our life paths. And the We’Moon Tarot re-frames that picture in the universal language of the Mother Tongue. When you draw a card that does not fit the picture you are seeking guidance about, look again, from different angles: What is the reverse meaning? Are there hidden nuances? Look deeper: Do new insights emerge from the shadows of your unconscious?

Visit our Tarot Forum blog for a little behind the scenes look at our founders' musings as she began to put the idea of the deck together. She and friends had a good time finding art to riff off of and use as examples as they explored some nuances and meanings of tarot cards, elements and ideas.
"We are tapping into the creative wisdom of We’Moon to re-configure a Tarot deck from a contemporary multi-cultural feminist perspective, grounded in earth-based women’s spirituality/empowerment/consciousness, with diverse perspectives from international women’s cultures and our individual life experiences.
"That is when we first started basing each annual edition on the archetypes of the Major Arcana cards in Tarot (the number of each card corresponding with the last two digits of the year). The spiritual quest of the Fool’s journey (0) that started in 2000 comes full circle with The World Card (XXI) in 2021. The outcome—personally, planetarily or politically—remains to be seen. What we can foresee at this point is that it’s In Her Hands! No matter what other forces are at play with The World card in We’Moon 2021."
"While the 22 Major Arcana cards personify different aspects or stages of spiritual development, portraying the larger cosmic influences bearing upon us, the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana reflect the karmic influences that shape our individual personal life stories and how we respond to any given situation. The Minor Arcana consists of four elemental suits (like the four suits in an ordinary deck of playing cards) that represent the four elements in nature (earth, water, air and fire) and related dimensions in human nature (physical, emotional, mental, and energetic).
